8h01.comLe farò da padre (1974) Le farò da padre (also known as I’ll Take Her Like a Father and Bambina) is a 1974 Italian comedy film directed by Alberto Lattuada. It is the debut-title of Teresa Ann Savoy. The film was filmed in Apulia. Plot The lawyer Mazzacolli (Gigi Proietti) wants to get his hands on the properties of a countess (Irene Papas) and, helped by a local nobleman (Mario Scaccia), staged the kidnapping of the countess’ mentally-disabled child whose hand he had asked for (Teresa Ann Savoy). The move would force the hand of the countess, particularly for granting the usufruct of the property to her future husband. Mazzacolli had not reckon with love, which unpredictably changes ideas and situations. Cast Gigi Proietti as Saverio Mazzacolli Irene Papas as Raimonda Spina Tommaselli Teresa Ann Savoy as Clotilde Mario Scaccia as Don Amilcare de Loyola Bruno Cirino as Peppe Colizzi Lina Polito as Concettina Isa Miranda as Aunt Elisa Clelia Matania as Aunt Lorè Reception The film received mixed reviews from critics. Some praised the performances of Proietti and Savoy, as well as the cinematography and music, while others criticized the plot as implausible and offensive. The film was also controversial for its depiction of a romantic relationship between a middle-aged man and a
young woman with mental disabilities. Awards The film won the Silver Ribbon for Best Supporting Actress (Lina Polito) at the 1975 Nastro d’Argento Awards. It was also nominated for Best Actor (Gigi Proietti), Best Director (Alberto Lattuada), Best Screenplay (Alberto Lattuada, Piero Chiara, Ruggero Maccari) and Best Music (Fred Bongusto). Trivia The film was inspired by a real-life case that happened in Italy in 1972, when a lawyer kidnapped a wealthy heiress with Down syndrome and tried to marry her. The film was banned in some countries, such as France and Spain, for its controversial content. The film was remade in 1981 as Bambina by Alberto Lattuada himself, with Monica Guerritore and Patrick Dewaere in the lead roles. Parental Guide The film contains scenes of nudity, sexuality, violence and language that may be inappropriate for younger viewers. The film also deals with sensitive topics such as mental disability, kidnapping, blackmail and
incest. The film is rated R in the United States and 18+ in Italy.
